Welcome to Live The Dream Café!
Live The Dream Café is all about making the most of life and, of course, Livin’ The Dream.
Hello Friends and Family, Clients and Students!
Welcome to Live The Dream Café.
My name is Matt. I strive to live the dream with my wife, Kerry, son, Brooks, and dog, Lyle, in the Teton Valley, Idaho… just a quick drive over Teton Pass from Jackson Hole, WY, Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.
My current career includes working as a fishing guide and ski instructor as well as teaching outdoor education for Central Wyoming College (CWC) and the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

I've Made my Career Leading Others in the Outdoors
I’ve chosen my life outside because I deeply care for our natural world. And I am passionate about spending time exploring it… climbing up snow covered mountains and skiing back down, floating along scenic rivers while fly fishing, and making good friends who share these same interests.

A Very Special Client, my Mom, Catches her First Wyoming Rainbow Trout On a Fly Rod
I realize that I spend a lot of my time giving thanks when I enter our natural world. The mountains, the rivers… these are places where I feel at one with a power greater than myself. And I usually find myself pausing atop remote mountain peaks and along wild-scenic rivers to give my reverence for my good fortunes in this world.
I ultimately strive to share my adventures with my clients and students so that they’ll experience, first hand, the same power and significance that these experiences evoke.
So, again, welcome to Live The Dream Café. Please fill your cup, find a comfortable seat, and start planning your next trip…
…to Live The Dream!

Love the site — you and Kerry are an inspiration. You’re living the dream and it’s clear you appreciate every minute of it. Get the guest room ready — we’re heading west for a visit! Love you guys, Kristin

Great site. I like your pictures of “church”!!!
Stumbled across your website from a google alert. I’m also and Adventure Educator and I found loads of interesting reading on your website. Thanks!
Hey Sam,
Thanks for your comment. I’ll check out your website, totemdevelopment.co.uk… it sounds like a cool company.
Where do you base your programs. What kind of qualifications do you look for in hiring your staff?
Matt
Hi Matt.
My programs are all UK based (for now). We have a whole host of our own qualifications in the UK (SPA, ML, BCU Level 1-5,etc) that I use.
However the key thing for me as a trainer is finding staff who are good educators. Keep people safe is relatively easy, helping them learn is much harder.
I blog occasionally at http://www.totemdevelopment.co.uk/blog with ideas, stories and techniques for outdoor educators if you are interested.
Sam
Matt,
It was good to talk with you again. It was about 10 years since I last visited John and Clara but I often thought about them. Every ski team trip through Ithaca they were always in my mind. They left a great legacy with your family. I no John and Clara must have been so proud of the direction of your life….
I will come west and ski with you someday. My good freind Chris Smith is the program director at Hogaden ski area in Caspe for the junior race program. He is a hugh outdoorsman, I think he would enjoy meeting you.
Hit me with an email so we can stay in touch
